This year I was one of 16,000 thousand delegates who attended WPC13. Although there were many “veterans”, it was my, and many of my colleagues very first time. You might wonder why this is significant – having been involved in so many channel events – but for me, spending almost a week in Houston at WPC offered more than just the opportunity to see Lenny Kravitz… it went far beyond the usual channel partner event. Over the course of the week, I got to meet many partners and vendors and talk to them about Westcon, our Lync proposition and plans. Our Lync Business Practice has developed considerably over the last couple of years across EMEA and it was rewarding to see this resonate with so many. I felt reassured and confident that our approach in developing strategic relationships with partners, enabling their businesses to support complete Lync Solutions across a broad Lync Hardware Ecosystem is the right one.
The opportunity to network with so many people from Microsoft, Vendors and Partners in one place was incredible – something echoed by all my colleagues in EMEA that attended and the energy and enthusiasm generated within our team over the course of the week was noticeable. The mix of keynote speeches, Lync breakout sessions, sales and marketing workshops as well as the drinks parties made for a busy but rewarding and informative week! As a team we feel better aligned to Microsoft’s strategy and have developed and cemented some key partnerships. I look forward to next year.
